Jan began his music education in Alberta, Canada; before continuing in the Czech Republic. While in Europe he participated in several competitions and was a laureate in the nation-wide Conservatory Competition of the Czech Republic. He attended masterclasses throughout Europe, the UK, and in the Middle East and performed with several orchestras, most notably as soloist with the South Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic and as the pianist for a production of Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" with which he toured Europe extensively.

 

Currently Jan is the music director and organist at St. John’s United Church in Pointe Claire, Québec, runs a performance and teaching studio with his wife, Marina, and is active as a pianist, teacher, and arranger. He is also currently working on a Doctorate degree in music at McGill University in Montréal.
